Sliding gates are commonly used where space is at a premium, or the ground surface is uneven. They can be installed without requiring central tethers, which makes them extremely versatile. A common situation which hampers the installation of a swing gate is that of an upward incline to the driveway, which prevents the opening of the gate. This is not an issue for a sliding gate!
Sliding gates are also very popular among commercial customers where security is a primary concern. Both Courtyard and Ornamental Gates can be installed using the sliding gate method.
Another common reason why a sliding gate is used as an option over a swing gate is down to the amount of space behind the gate. A good example would be if an electric gate is being installed to secure a small courtyard where vehicles are stored and there is not enough space for a swing gate to open.
Sliding gates can come in a variety of sizes, finishes and materials, from the purely functional to the proudly ornamental.
